Tara’s compassion is manifest in allowing people to count themselves out of beauty and enlightenment, if they wish to do so. She does not tyranically select anyone, nor does she gather together an elite group of the privileged or saved. The privilege of complete pleasure and self-liberation is open to all, with the option to count yourself out, to elect not to participate. Tara is the representation and agent both of selection and deselection. She presents the proof that self-liberation…

Beltane Retreat 2015

Beltane Retreat 2015

Planetary Tantra in Galicia She broke from the north, Her Light swathed in serpentine coils, dancing across the electric blue sky, watched by a small band of warriors standing in awe. (Like characters in a bad science fiction movie, according to JLL.) The night was cold and the temperature dropped even further to herald Her arrival – orgone, said JLL. We had been tried and tested on the days leading up to our telestic session. After a run of hot…

Laundry Magnets

Laundry Magnets

What gets your clothes clean in the washing machine?  Think again if you answered detergent, it’s the water of course!  The purpose of the detergent is to make water more slippery, so that it slides through fabric more easily and lifts the dirt off with it.  The problem with most laundry detergents is that they are highly toxic, to you, your family, our beautiful earth and many of her creatures. There have been numerous studies confirming the harm caused by…

Lammas Permaculture Retreat

Lammas Permaculture Retreat

Lammas Permaculture Retreat Our permaculture retreats focus on immersing ourselves in Nature so that our needs emerge in co-evolution with our environment. The essence of permaculture is not really about designing sustainable gardens, but recognising that everything we need is already here! We need to shift our perception. Sometimes this just happens, or you can prepare with shamanic work, sacred plants, mantra or mindfulness. 1. Relaxation The first principle of permaculture is “observe and interact”. Our approach is to take…

A Cob Experience

A Cob Experience

A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a day with one of the only two professional “cob” builders in Spain. We want to build our new house using “cob” and this was a golden opportunity for me to have my first any kind of experience with it. Cob is a mixture of clay, sand and straw that combines to make a very strong structure that provides excellent insulation while being flexible. We like…

Benefits of Earthing

Benefits of Earthing

Earthing or grounding is the simple process of getting outside with your bare feet on the ground and it has astounding benefits. We have forgotten how important this is and not just from a spiritual perspective. We have been created to work in harmony and connection with Gaia and wearing shoes all the time has ironically been one of the most damaging things we have done to ourselves in the name of progress. The Earth is electrical – just like…

Goodbye New Year 01-01-14

Goodbye New Year 01-01-14

To my dear friends: Let’s celebrate this ‘New Year’ by ditching it altogether! If New Year feels like such a pressure to go out and spend loads of money chasing a good time that ends up being such an anti-climax, when you would rather be holed up at home.  RELAX, it’s not really New Year anyway!  If you feel this way, honour it.  You are not a killjoy, unable to enjoy yourself or (Goddess forbid) getting old.  You are AWAKENING…

Greenhouse

Greenhouse

We have a greenhouse.  It came in about a thousand pieces with only pictures as guidance to put it together.  The instructions said, two people could put it up in a day!  It took about a week and we had to keep propping it up so the wind didn’t take it away.  We had planned on putting up a poly-tunnel, but thought this might last longer. We’re  going to try heating it with tea-lights under terracotta pots.

Hay making

Hay making

We’ve got a push along petrol mower and several fields that needed mowing and we were wondering how this would get done.  Or perhaps we would just let the fields grow for a while.  Then a neighbour showed up.  Actually the nephew of the person we bought the land from.  Apparently he has mowed the fields for the past 15 years and used the hay for his cows.  He offered us money for the hay, but we didn’t know where…

The house

The house

The finca came with three buildings.  The main house is in ruins, with only half the walls and roof still standing.  We had originally thought that it might be better to knock it all down and start again, but the paperwork and permissions fot that are complicated and much more expensive.  So we’ve decided to go for restoration, at least in name.  We’ll be keeping part of the old house as storage/cellar and adding a new wing which will be…
